Background

Project Target Groups

  • Municipal staff from Hai Duong City and Hai Duong Province who have responsibility for planning, tourism, industry and handicrafts in Hai Duong. It is expected that 10-12 staff will be directly involved in capacity building initiatives and a further 25-30 of their colleagues will benefit indirectly from the project by association.

  • Enterprises involved in craft production in Hai Duong who will receive support from the proposed craft development board and craft promotion centre. It is estimated that 30- 40 businesses could benefit directly from the project in the first 2 years. An estimated 2,000 – 2,500 employees of these businesses would benefit indirectly from the improved performance of these businesses.

  • A further 20 businesses in Hai Duong involved in related tourist activities – travel, accommodation, restaurants, cafes etc. would benefit indirectly from the increased tourist traffic to the town which the project is ultimately expected to generate.

  • an estimated 20+ new jobs will be created by the project

  • Finally an estimated 20 Vietnamese businesses in Hackney and 2 – 3 in Limerick/Shannon could eventually benefit indirectly from the business to business links which the project ultimately hopes to encourage between the EU and Vietnam, and the increased interest which the Asia Urbs project is expected to generate in Hackney and Shannon for Vietnamese culture, artefacts and cuisine.
